American sociologist W. I. Thomas and other social theorists in the 1920's proposed the concept of the "definition of the situation" which briefly states that "if men defined situations as real, they are real in their consequences".
Some of us would label this as being harmless wish fulfillment while other more rational minds would immediately cite this as being nothing more than simplistic minds coping with an indifferent reality. Surely this type of coping mechanism would not be very popular today given the educational and social advances that have been made by society.
One adult porn site however would tend to differ with whatever opinion you have on this subject. This particular site indirectly promotes its own generalized theory that white, naive and young females can be cajoled and tempted to perform sexual acts on camera if the price is right. The promise of an exciting lifestyle and hefty monetary rewards lure many women to respond to this dribble.
The main character in this melodrama is a male in his mid 30's. His supposed casting director's office is sparsely decorated...a desk, a few pictures on the walls, a black leather couch, a laptop computer, a hand held camera, a cell phone and wall mounted cameras and audio equipment. There are no diplomas, pictures or licenses of any of his past accomplishments visibly displayed.
The women themselves arrive at his office around 11 pm and he greets them at the door with his camera in hand supposedly taping the entire interview. This audition tape , he tells the young women, will be edited and sent to producers in the industry.
The women arrive at the office unchaperoned. They are well dressed, somewhat sophisticated and all wanting to be chosen as either adult models or potential porn star actresses. Their occupations range from grocery store cashier to nursing student. All were lured by the promise of making between $1,500 and $5,000 per day .
At this stage of the game two important concepts should be noted. First, a disclaimer at the start of the film states that the main male character is no casting director and secondly and more importantly there is no job to be had. However the disclaimer does indicate that he would hire all these women if he could do so.
His face is never revealed in the films. The women's anonymity is never protected. The women give their names, driver's licence and other personal data to him at the start of the interview. They must be at least 18 years old. This takes the legal onus of responsibility off his shoulders.
The women are embarrassed initially to disrobe for this stranger. He makes them feel at ease by allaying their fears and doubts about the interview. He cleverly dangles the promise of stardom and large paychecks before their hopefully naive eyes.
Eventually they disrobe for him and perform whatever he asks for on this interview. He tells them that to be successful in the industry they must be able to take directions.
The alarming aspect of this site rests in the fact that many women today, desperate for success , stardom and riches let themselves be deceived and conned into doing this on camera.
I am hoping that the women portrayed in these scenes are actresses and not real life victims. The eyes of the trusting and unquestioning mind are often lured into performing such debasing and disgusting actions. It's time to wake up and realize what's happening and not trust every stranger dangling wealth and fame before us.
It should be noted that W.I. Thomas himself was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and charged under the Mann Act which prohibits "interstate transport of females for immoral purposes". Even the knowledgeable and authoritative fall from grace.
